iSystain is a feature-rich sustainability, HSE and social impact platform that utilises cloud-based technology. It is co-created, supported and grown by a team who care about our clients’ successes. This means understanding our client’s needs, innovating to solve tomorrow’s problems and excellent service delivery.
Our story
The iSystain platform reflects the passion and values of Jenni Mulligan and Don Smy. Jenni is a former management systems consultant and auditor across the resources, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, who foresaw how technology and risk management could come together to drive sustainability. Don Smy is a technology leader, systems architect and software engineer with a philosophical bent.
Jenni and Don merged their talents in 2004 on an entrepreneurial journey to develop iSystain, a product that would support clients to reach best practice in sustainability, corporate social responsibility and HSE management.
In 2022, Systar Pty Ltd was acquired by the Vela Software Group and iSystain is now a part of the Vela Sustainability Technologies software suite.
Almost two decades on, this cloud-based sustainability software demonstrates the value of technology in driving business to balance the needs of society with that of the planet. Having established itself as a market leader, iSystain partners with clients to deploy intuitive, flexible, user-friendly and customisable solutions that expand across the organisation ecosystem.

Our values
As an business that originated in Australia we believe it’s important to acknowledge the past, present and emerging Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuing cultural, spiritual and knowledgeable practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We support the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution, as expressed in the Uluru Statement from the Heart (The Uluru Statement - From The Heart), because it is fair and practical reform.
